What is
Black Math Genius PLUS?
Black Math Genius PLUS is a LIVE weekly tutoring program designed to meet your children where they are in Math. Each week, your children will have online access to multiple live group Math tutoring sessions led by our gifted instructors. There will be two sessions per week, per group. As of today, we have 3 different groups; 3rd-5th Grades, 6th-8th Grades, and a group focused on Algebraic instruction.

After speaking with parents in our community, we realized that these were the three highest areas of need in our community. We will start with this group, focus on getting their needs met, and then we will consider expanding our services to additional focus areas.
We are committed to ensuring your children get the foundational Math skills they need to be successful in Mathematics and life.
Twice-weekly Group Math Tutoring Sessions at each level (6 total)
Instructors will host a virtual classroom where students will present their questions and receive Math tutoring. Students will raise their hands and be chosen to present their questions, while their instructor walks them through the steps to complete their Math equations. This forum will provide your child with ample opportunities to learn from the other students.
The subscription launches with two Grade 3-5 grade, two 6-8 grade and two Algebra 1 sessions per week!

You'll have access to the notes that were taken during tutor sessions so that you can go back, revisit, review and make the most of each session.
Monthly Math Tricks and Challenges
You will receive a new Math hack video each week which our tutors will prepare for your children, as well as with practice sheets and a monthly Math challenge for all students to enjoy.

Assata Moore
Assata started teaching at the age of eighteen! In her twenties, she used her work ethic as leverage to become a partner of a restaurant in Lansing, MI. During this same period, she set a goal of retiring in her forties. In February of 2017, at the age of forty-one, she retired from her district-level position at the University of Chicago's Urban Education Institute. Prior to that position, Assata spent five years as a high school principal where she brought a school from red to green in terms of education, staff morale, and budget. As a teacher and principal, she traveled the world teaching other teachers how to teach Mathematics, physics, and engineering in a fun and engaging way; effective leadership; and systems and strategies for running a successful school.
She has a Mathematics degree from Michigan State University where she also served as the program coordinator. In 2009, she was voted one of the top Mathematics teachers in the state of Illinois. In 2005, she decided to invest in real estate alongside teaching. This would be her vehicle to retirement. To make this goal a reality, she first accumulated several properties to bring in enough rental income to replace her six-figure salary.
Afterward, she started flipping single-family homes to sustain the standard of living she had become accustomed to.
Her workshops and speaking engagements are what she calls, "EduAction". You will be educated and you will put that learning into action. It's about building wealth y'all!
Jayel Taylor
Jayel is a 22-year-old Math enthusiast with a knack for engaging with children. He learned to play chess at the age of 2, by 4 he was winning chess tournaments, even competing with adults. He graduated from high school at the age of 16 and got a 35 on the ACT when he was 15 years old.
So yes, he is pretty good at Mathematics. He began tutoring Math at the age of 14. He tutored everything from Arithmetic to Calculus.
It was during these years that Jayel developed a passion for working with children. He is patient, empathetic and can relate the Math equations in a way that makes sense to children.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this one-on-one tutoring?
No, this is small group tutoring. Sessions will be held via Zoom during the designated hours led by our BMG PLUS tutor. Your child will be one of several children in the session. We’ve tested this format and found that, in many cases, group sessions provide additional learning opportunities for students and are an excellent way for them to collectively learn.
How will my child get their Math questions answered?
Once they open their unique Zoom link, your child will click the
“raise hand” function that will put them in the queue to ask their math question. Once it is their turn, the instructor will ask them to present their question at that time.
What if my child has multiple questions?
Your child will be allowed to get back in line to have their next question answered if time allows.
What if I have multiple children I’d like to enroll?
We are offering a special rate for families with multiple children.
